Form Layouts

Input Form Layout

Form layout settings define how a multidimensional data set is represented as a two-dimensional spreadsheet.

When a form is opened for the first time, one of the following layouts can be loaded:

Preset Layout

A global default layout configured during system setup.

In this case, the user can:

  • start entering data immediately;
  • modify the layout if required.

Blank Layout

No default layout has been configured for the form.

In this case, the layout must be created before data entry can begin.

Layout Components

A layout consists of the following settings:

Component Description
Currency Defines whether data is displayed in Input Currency or Functional Currency
Totals Defines whether totals are displayed for rows and/or columns
Dimensions Distribution Defines how dimensions are distributed between filters, rows, columns and subtable
Input Mode Defines how data is presented in the form

Currency

The Currency parameter defines how values are displayed.

Option Description
Input Currency Data is displayed in input currency. Manual data entry is available.
Functional Currency Data is displayed in functional currency. Values are read-only.

This parameter is available only for forms containing data translated from original currency into functional currency.

Totals

Totals can be displayed for rows and columns.

Enable:

  • Totals: Rows
  • Totals: Columns

to display calculated totals.

Dimensions Distribution

Dimensions must be distributed between the following sections.

Section Description
Filter Dimensions used as filters. The form is generated for a single selected combination.
Main Table: Rows Dimensions displayed as rows in the main table.
Main Table: Columns Dimensions displayed as columns in the main table.
Subtable Detailed spreadsheet for each main table cell. Data entry is performed here when dimensions are assigned to the subtable.

Important Notes

  • At least one dimension must be assigned to Main Table: Rows.
  • Any number of dimensions can be assigned to Main Table rows and Subtable rows.
  • The order of dimensions defines the hierarchy.
  • Only one dimension can be assigned to Main Table columns.
  • Only one dimension can be assigned to Subtable columns.

Input Mode

The Input Mode determines how data is displayed.

Notes

  • Some forms support only one mode. This is configured in Forms Designer.
  • Data can be entered only when Currency is set to Input Currency.

One Dimensional Table Behavior

  • If data entry uses a Subtable, only the Subtable becomes one dimensional.
  • The Main Table remains multidimensional.
  • If no Subtable is used, the Main Table becomes one dimensional.

Managing Form Layouts

Input forms use the standard NeoPlan layout management system.

The layout management system provides the ability to:

  • Save layouts
  • Load layouts
  • Edit layouts
  • Configure default layouts
  • Enable Autorun for layouts

Detailed information about the layout management system is provided in the Layout Management section of this documentation.
